[ Ref. Cecil Dover in 200918 MMDigest ]
Cecil, I have had tremendous luck with a product sold by Pulsar
Professional FX of Colorado Springs, Colorado. It is a dry transfer
decal that you make using a laser printer. I have made fallboard
decals as well as back glass decals for clocks and other items.
It is not difficult, but there is a learning curve.
Essentially, you print whatever you want on the special provided
paper. The colors from the printer itself are used, but can be
enhanced through a secondary step using various colored foils,
which include gold and silver.
This print is eventually transferred to the surface, like the organ
stop rail, using a tacky adhesive such as Sulky 2000. Seal with
a light coat of spray varnish, then finish with whatever you want.
