FS: Welte-Mignon Kabinett Reproducing Piano
By Mike Walter

Hi guys, I offered to send to the MMD information about a Welte
Kabinett (keyboard-less) player that a friend of mine owns and wishes
to sell (in the nearby city of Tonawanda, New York). The cabinet is
in very fine condition and I have admired it for some time, but don't
have the room or finances to have such a glorious instrument.

I don't know how all of the information and pictures could be included
in the normal submission format. One photo is of a pneumatic which has
been rebuilt. The explanation is, "The strange pneumatic is a switch
for the resistor over-ride but it's not connected. The original
resistor is in place and hooked up so this isn't needed but it was
there."

Additional information: There are only two rolls (recuts, I believe);
one is popular music, the other is classical. If you have any
questions, please let me know or contact Mark directly.

Best wishes,
Mike Walter

Hi Mike, Here's the info on the Red Welte Kabinett player piano and
its restoration. It is a Feurich keyless upright, serial number 22372,
plate numbered "3813 M". The plate is hand lettered "Welte - Mignon".
A stringing scale accompanies it.

The case has been refinished to match the original plus it has the
lower side access panels for ease of regulation. The piano has been
re-pinned, re-strung, and it has new hammers, dampers and felts.

The mercury 'start switch' pot is in place but empty, as there is a
micro-switch behind it to actually start and stop the motor. All the
electric wiring is new.

The flat belt pulleys have been replaced with V-belt pulleys (the
original pulleys have been kept should one decide to reinstall them
and there are new belts as well.)

A vast majority of the components are marked "Freiburg", either in
crayon or India ink and sometimes in very obscure locations. I have
no idea as to why this was done.

The player has been rebuilt, it has a new DC motor with a converter and
fuse box and the primary and expression valves are rebuilt. The pump,
regulators and governor are recovered with leather and it plays with
great expression but at this point it needs a solid tuning. (No sense
doing it before it's moved as it'll need one after it's relocated.)

There are rolls available and the asking price is $14,500. Many photos
are available. Contact:
