I was saddened to learn of the passing of George Cooper (20.06.26 MMD).
I met George at the 2016 AMICA Convention in Princeton, New Jersey, and
enjoyed talking band organs with him. I'm a loner by nature (not by
choice), and George made me feel more a part of things when he invited
me to tag along in going around to the different organs at the 2018
COAA Rally at Knoebels Amusement Resort (Elysburg, Pennsylvania),
a kindness I will always remember.
As a teenager in the mid-1990s, I soaked up like a sponge the music
of the Stinson band organ on the carousel at Ontario Beach Park in
Rochester, New York. Thank you, George, for making those treasured
memories possible through the roll frames that you built.
I am so sorry that George's band organ dreams (like those of my friend
Mark Chester) will go unrealized.
