Rebuilding a Push-up Piano Player
By Lance Hitt

The 66 pneumatic bellows in my Pianola push-up piano player are
dry rotted. Can they be replaced, either by purchasing them or
replacing the material?

Lance Hitt

[ Yes, they can. Is the original material rubber-coated fabric
[ or is it some sort of leather (animal hide)? But that's only
[ the beginning -- all other material likely needs replacement
[ unless it's of metal or wood in good condition. Examine the
[ felt bushings that support axles, leather gaskets and hoses of
[ metal or rubber. Most of the glued joints throughout should be
[ inspected and repaired. It's a lot of work but the result is
 [ rewarding! -- Robbie
