Music Roll Tempi & Perforation Size
By Steve Bentley

[ Ref. Julian Dyer in 200419 MMD ]

I have made many rolls: around 15 88-note single-tune. The others
are my "O" rolls, six in number and a total of 69 tunes.

My reasoning on this (which many persons will know) is, if the hole
is too large there is a danger of the perforation wandering into the
next higher of lower note. I have rolls which others will have in
which the holes are too small -- which as we know will affect the note
playing satisfactory -- so the tracking has to be good. On style
"O" rolls the flanges are large and they don't need a tracking device.
