Arwen Dewey, my niece in Seattle, Washington -- at the heart of this
malady -- has started a family "Sing-a-long" on Sundays, using Vimeo.
I, unfortunately, am stuck on dial-up Internet service so I can't join
in. I suggested that if I could, we could even do a "Dueling Player
Pianos" and I would put the same roll on my piano. Here's the email
she sent out.
> Hi everybody! Hey, what're you up to today? Sitting at home trying
> not to spread coronavirus germs around? Good for you! While you're
> being good citizens, wanna come over (virtually of course) and sing
> a quick song around the player piano? Join us for our inaugural
> (and extremely short) Weekend Sing-a-Long! Just click here:
> Until next time, wash your hands, wipe down the gas pump, and keep on
> singing! We miss you all.
> Hugs, Arwen & Alejandro
> P.S.: We are going to do this next weekend too, and keep going until
> we're all safe to roam the world freely once again. If sing-a-longs
> aren't your style, just let us know and we'll take you off the invite
> list.
I thought it was a fun idea, and so wanted to share it with you. She
has a Beckwith upright that she loves; it is the focal point of their
living room even. Her getting the piano and its rebuilding is an
interesting story in itself, but for another time. By the way, she is
a professional singer, albeit a bit out-of-work right now!
