I am very familiar with Wurlitzer roll perforator no. 12 which is now
operating in the Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum in North Tonawanda
and still punching out Wurlitzer rolls under the skilled hand of
Douglas Herschberger.
But watching the YouTube video of that machine (which was posted by
Karl Schroder on the 20.02.22 MMD and which I was previously unaware
of; thanks, Karl), I was newly amazed at how well the punches, linkages,
pins, and rods of that perforator have stood up under the hammering
delivered to them millions, billions, trillions of times over the life
of their service, first in the Wurlitzer factory's Roll Department and
now in the Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum.
Perforator no. 12 is still working today, long after all its fellow
Wurlitzer perforators have ended their lives in the dump.
