Losche Glass
By Dennis Steckley

[ Ref. Galen Bird in 200203 MMDigest ]

Forgive my ignorance, but how is Losche glass used in musical
instruments?

Dennis Steckley

[ The German verb "löschen" means to clear or quench, so Lösche-Glas
[ might be hot glass chipped with drops of cold water. Or maybe it's
[ related to the Lösche (Loesche) orchestrion! See the glass panels at
 [ https://www.mechanicalmusicpress.com/reblitz/galleries/eu_orch_los_1k.htm

[ I wasn't sure either, so I asked Galen: Is this glass from a Lösche
[ Orchestrion? He replied: Yes it is. It is a recut but is beveled.
