Moving Aid For A Player Grand Piano
By Ed Chaban

I must disagree with Philip Jamison about using a pedal lyre to tip a
player grand piano.

Not all pedal lyres are created equal and none of them were engineered
for the purpose of piano tipping. They are there to handle the pedals,
nothing else! This is particularly true of art-case pianos whose pedal
lyres are sometimes delicate due to their ornate carving and sometimes
unusual designs. Add to that the fact that the stack, spool box, pump
etc. add significant weight.

I've head my share of horror stories from collectors over the years.
I would never tip a piano on the pedal lyre.
