I don't know why I feel awkward about this, but I do.
As usual, I am "a day late and a dollar short." It was this past
Tuesday, the 21st, that I read the note in 200119 MMDigest from Ian
Mavor regarding "Pictures at an Exhbition," etc. This was shortly
after I had loaded a piano roll auction on eBay. It was for the pair
of rolls of the "Wanderer Fantasy", Duo-Art/Play-Rite 42319-A & B.
These rolls were part of an auction lot that I acquired a few weeks ago.
Knowing little about classical music, I am not familiar with the
"Wanderer Fantasy", so I put it on eBay. Then I read the MMD issue
containing Mr. Mavor's note. I didn't know whether putting this item
up for auction was, well, interesting or, somehow unfortunate.
Making matters worse, two hours ago I finally had a chance to survey
the contents of two other boxes of rolls from that same lot. They had
been hidden by their upper neighbors. Jumping out at me was the two
roll set, Duo-Art/Play-Rite 42917 A&B, of "Pictures at an Exhibition"!
So now I have the second of the three. (At least I'm familiar with
the title of this pair.)
Again, I feel awkward about this, but I don't know why.
