"Charlie My Boy" on Wurlitzer 150 Roll 13120
By Matthew Caulfield
A question has come up about the completeness of Wurlitzer roll
13120, which starts with "Charlie My Boy." The recording of roll 13120
issued by Bill Black's "Carrousel Music" on a tape cassette, has only
the last 58 seconds of that tune.
My online Wurlitzer 150 roll catalog shows that the Howe collection and
the Conway collection have 13120 and that Play-Rite issued a recut of
the roll.
What I am trying to find out is whether the Conway or Howe copy or any
existing copy is complete and whether the Play-Rite recut is complete
or whether it also lacks the start of tune 1. Richard J. Howe is dead
and I don't know who now has his copy of 13120, but Jack Conway is very
much alive and may be able to answer about his copy.
If anybody else has roll 13120, original or recut, I'd like to know
about its tune 1.
