In my somewhat limited experience in the business of rebuilding player
pianos in the northeast for 50 years, I can say there are good and not
so good players. Makes and models differ, and of course condition is
important, but I can say that _any_ player rebuilt by Charles Schubert
of Syracuse, New York, will be the tightest and most expressive piano
going.
I had the good fortune to meet Charles about a year ago, and can
absolutely say, he upped my game. I was astonished by the pianos and
other units he rebuilt. Being an engineer by trade, the attention to
the smallest of details, made for instruments that would out-perform
the best of the best. Unfortunately, Charles is no longer working on
mechanicals. Sad history when a talent like his has to leave the
business.
It's probably not the type of answer you were looking for, but seeing
the question, I just had to throw this in.
