"The Player Pianette is made up in an attractive cabinet which can
be placed on or near a piano and it ... depresses the keys. There is
no installation: the player is plugged into an electrical outlet. It
is reported the attachment will be retailed for about $300, compared
to $1,000 to $1,500 for new player pianos.
"Last February a patent pending was granted and the corporation
leased quarters in the Marcus Chick 'N' Feed building which had been
vacated. Mr. Cannon and his work crew hope to have the Player Pianette
on the market by December.
"Some of the many parts will he manufactured in Marcus, with others
coming from specialty companies. One important item, split lamb skin
used for tiny diaphragms, will come from Germany. Articles needed
come from 11 other parts of the world. The automatic attachment will
require no service or tuning.
"Units will be assembled at the Marcus plant. The corporation plans
to start off with about 10 to 20 employees. Player Pianette will he
marketed through some 12,000 piano stores throughout the nation."
