Player Pianette Corp. Keytop Solenoid Player
By Dennis Steckley
Does anybody have any experience with the Player Pianette built
in the nineteen-sixties by an Iowa company? It's a sort of modern
Vorsetzer.
Instead of wheeling it up to the keyboard of a regular piano, it sits
on (or over) the keyboard with a solenoid plunger for each key. It
incorporates a spool and motor of some sort which sits on top of the
piano, connected to the keyboard plungers by a cable to play a standard
roll.
I recently acquired one, which is currently dead. I haven't had a
chance to open it up; the problem may be a simple loose connection.
It was working when last used -- but that was probably 20 years ago.
