[ Ref. Mark Kinsler in 191005 MMDigest ]
My thanks to Mark Kinsler in his reference to the AMBC book on
cylinder musical box restoration and his advice on publishing via
Kindler. We will certainly take the advice on board.
The problem with books of this type is the limited market, the
high cost of small print runs and the high cost of postage. Sadly,
many good books such as those by the late H.A.V. Bulleid, under
his copyright but requiring the permission of the publisher, are
no longer in print and the publisher no longer in business.
At least one European museum and other societies are seeking ways
of placing books "on line" so that content can be selected in whole
or part, paid for, printed and delivered. Your advice may provide
a simpler and cheaper way to achieve this objective, particularly
when there are no copyright issues.
In the meantime, the Cylinder Musical Box Collector's and Restorer's
Handbook has sold out but, with further firm orders, AMBC have
commissioned a further short print run that will be available before
the end of this month, October. (Contact the author, below.)
