Does anyone have information about Dr. Michael R. Stein, a dentist
by profession, and author of Piano Archives 6th ed. (New York:
self-published, 1984). It would be helpful to have any biographical
information; where he lived; what type of instrument and roll collection
he had and where his collection ended up. Any information would be very
helpful. Thank you.

[ Dr. Stein began collecting circa 1929 when he bought a player piano.
[ Harold Schonberg, the New York Times long-time music critic, wrote
[ on July 16, 1982, about the player piano concerts at Riverside Church
[ in Morningside Heights, New York City:
[
[ "They did indeed live up to their billing: Legendary Concert Artists.
[ Their names were Josef Hofmann, Ignace Paderewski, Percy Grainger and
[ Rudolph Ganz, to mention but four, and they 'appeared' last night in
[ the first of three recitals at the Cloister Theater of Riverside
[ Church. At least, some kind of ghostly presence was there. It was a
[ concert of piano rolls from the collection of Dr. Michael R. Stein."
