Dear MMDers, A reminder that the Association of Musical Box
Collectors (AMBC) will be holding an auction on Saturday 14th
September of mechanical music, with the main section comprising
the collection from the late Terry France.
Some of you will remember Terry's passion and focus in this field
and this will be remembered fondly. This is a 60-plus lot auction
encompassing most sub-sections of our subject.
Highlights from the France collection include a number of phonographs
and portable gramophones, horns and cylinders, a 15-1/2-inch table
Polyphon, an 11-inch table Polyphon, some nice pneumatic instruments,
and a superb Raffin 20-note street organ-on-cart with a selection of
rolls.
Highlights from other properties include an upright 19-5/8-inch
Polyphon with 30 discs, Nicole Frerés cylinder musical boxes,
manivelle musical boxes, a musical photograph album and lots of
other useful and interesting bits and pieces.
This is a society auction -- but all are very welcome. You can join
on the day for the remainder of the year for a small fee if not already
a member.
Viewing starts Friday 13th September 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., then on the
morning of the sale on Saturday, 14th September, from 10 a.m. Auction
starts at 11 a.m. Refreshments available. Only 10% buyers premium
with no VAT.
Venue: The Old School, Guildford Road, Bucks Green, West Sussex,
RH12 3JP. For more details, please contact me [data below] or your
host for the occasion, Ted Brown, via the AMBC website,
http://www.ambc.org.uk/
If you want to bid on anything after obtaining the details, you can
leave an absentee bid with the auctioneer if you can't attend.
Come along in person, meet members, enjoy a feast of mechanical music
and take home a piece to add to your collection. Looking forward to
seeing you there.
