Welte-Mignon (Licensee) Recording Process
By Jim Miller

This will be my last comment on my own topic posted here, as put
under the general heading "Welte-Mignon (Licensee) Recording Process"
by the Editorship.

It did not go as I had hoped. ('Twas "The First Flight of The Lead
Balloon" - it was just _not_ meant to be!) There were responses to the
failed effort but, between ones posted and those received privately
(three), these proved to be worlds-apart.

In-general, the P-M's were actually complimentary, and expressing of
gratitude even, these for my having gone to the trouble of introducing
to their notice the fact of the page-of-dispute's existence. As for
nearly all of the MMD postings, the tenor, tone and content of those
were markedly differing, to put it very leastwise?

At the beginning of such a point as this last did morph-into I disengage,
and thus this little tail as attached to the donkey.

Music, Art and all of such-like of higher grandeur, even _if_ as
mechanically produced (or, reproduced) is best left, in my opinion,
to the twin provinces of Commity and Ease; and not those of rancor,
the prosecutorial, evidence-gathering and resulting "convictions,"
as-made against those who are no longer of the living, and who if
otherwise might defend themselves to success.

Perhaps because not of those per se, and, regarding only
"Technicalities" so-to-speak, they are of more fair-game for
attack, dissection and destruction than not. I believe them _both_
part-and-parcel mutually.

President Heaton and his pianist/salesman guest may have staged
a little thing for the enjoyment of their sellers back in old '25 but,
in my view, that being the case or no, do not deserve such excoriation
and condemnation as was done on these pages.

(For the critics, I think the expression they were searching for but
did not find was "an imposture" - an obsolete but absolutely perfect
descriptive one for what was alleged generally, by the clutch of
responding dissenters.)

For my own part in this little frisson of-recent, I suppose I am to be
blamed and so, partake of any.

Next time I'll try harder and better. I promise.
