A couple more observations on the picture of the two gentlemen looking
at a Welte 'recording'. If you look at the wall behind the gentlemen,
you will notice that there are two light sources shining on them. It's
definitely a staged picture.
What looks like a drawer in front of the gentleman seated at the piano
is probably the seated gentleman's legs holding more of the paper in
his lap. The gentleman with the device in his hands is probably looking
at the bass end of the keyboard, so that he doesn't have to look at the
bright lights in front of him, thus he not being able to see where he is
pointing.
The paper is not 11-1/4 inches wide but is more like 16" wide. If you
notice the seated gentleman's arm positions, neither of them are turned
inward to grasp narrow paper. Although his right hand is turned in to
grasp the paper, he is still extending outward and upward his left arm
to close the gap between his hand, the music sheet, and the standing
gentleman.
The standing gentleman's left hand is positioned to show the bass end
of the music desk and the top rim of the piano. The seated man's gaze
is on the bass end of the "music sheet" which is obviously fake. If
those were actual holes in the paper, you would likely not be able to
see them, and you would not likely see such an amount of "activity" in
both bass and treble in such a short span of time.
For what it's worth...
Best wishes,
Mike Walter
