Howdy! This is COAA member Tim Wagner and I'm writing to extend
an invitation for outdoor mechanical music instrument owners to
participate in Conner Prairie Museum's Festival of Machines the
weekend of September 14th.

Located in Fishers, Indiana (northeast of Indianapolis), Conner Prairie
Museum is one of the most-visited outdoor museums in the country, and
Indiana's first Smithsonian affiliate. Conner Prairie Museum provides
families with multi-generational opportunities to come together,
interact and learn in new and unique ways in the heart of Indiana.
With a long history of innovation that spans the fields of science,
history, art, and nature, Conner Prairie offers every guest the
opportunity to pursue fun and knowledge in a way that is tailored
to them.

An outdoor event for the whole family to enjoy, the Festival of Machines
invites guests to celebrate Indiana's rich history of transportation.
The weekend of September 14th & 15th will feature vintage cars, steam
engines, aircraft, military vehicles, fire trucks, activities for kids,
and, with your participation, the Happiest Music on Earth!

Last year, several COAA members with crank organs participated in this
2-day event. Well, several weeks ago, I was contacted by Rachel Poe,
the museum's new Program Developer, with an invitation to participate
in this year's festival. When asked what incentive the museum could
provide for participants with instruments, Rachel replied that they can
offer participants (with instruments) family admission, lunch vouchers
for each day, and balloon tickets (a tethered balloon which rises 370
feet over the landscape).
I informed Rachel that I would share her invitation to participate in
the festival with other enthusiasts. Since this is not a COAA sponsored
rally, there is no registration or fee, or host hotel. If you'd like
to participate with an instrument please contact me and let me know.
I also informed Rachel that we would need shade and AC power for any
trailered organs that may wish to participate.
If you are interested in participating in the Festival of Machines,
please let me know. Rachel also included a link for folks to register
as exhibitors:

But wait, there's more! On Friday September 13th, at 7:30 p.m., the
Scottish Rite Cathedral in Indianapolis is presenting a screening of
the 1923 Harold Lloyd silent classic comedy, "Safety Last", accompanied
by Donnie Rankin on their E. M. Skinner pipe organ. Admission is $15.00.
Special guest Suzanne Lloyd, granddaughter of Harold Lloyd, will share
stories and home movies about the life of her grandfather, who was one
of the most popular movie stars of the silent era as well as a dedicated
Freemason and Imperial Potentate of the Shrine.

I hope you can join us for the weekend!
Cheers,
Tim Wagner
