Morris Museum News: A new addition for visitors to enjoy
in the Guinness Collection Entry Gallery (a rotating display) is
a rare "Orchestre Complet", tbl. mdl. Intch. cyl. musical box by
B.A. Bremond, Geneva, Switzerland, dating from 1867, made shortly
after the Exposition Universal took place in Paris, France.
Fifty-six melodies in all, including raging hits of that year
such as "La Grand Duchesse" by Offenbach and Strauss' "Le Bleu
Danube" which nearly became the theme music for the Exposition.
We've created two related videos of this piece, during which it
is performing "L'Exposition de 1867, Polka". Can anyone identify
the composer?

Funding for the extensive case marquetry conservation and
restoration work was graciously donated by the East Coast Chapter
of MBSI. The Morris Museum continues to appreciate the active
volunteer efforts and supportive enthusiasm of the ECC membership.
Please feel welcome to visit us on your way to or from the MBSI
annual convention at the end of this month!
