A friend of mine forwarded me the enquiry that appeared in MMD about
piano rolls with music by De Falla [190530 MMDigest and subsequent].
I would add some little information to the previous listings of rolls
with Manuel De Falla's music.
The Italian company F.I.R.S.T. (Fabbrica Italiana Rulli Sonori Traforati
= Italian Company for Perforated Sound Rolls), flourished between 1906
and 1930, publishing some 5500 titles, all of them metronomic. Among
them there are two (only) with De Falla's music, published for the first
time between 1911 and 1913:
4251: Pièces espagnoles: No. 1 Aragonesa; No. 2 Cubana
4252: Pièces espagnoles: No. 3 Montanesa; No. 4 Andaluza
In our holdings of F.I.R.S.T. rolls (about 2200 items plus almost 2100
rolls of other companies) we have only the first one, No. 4251, in the
88-note standard format.
