Hello everyone, I just watched the new release on Netflix called
The American Experience series by PBS "Circus", in two parts, and is
a very good history of the American Circus. It shows not only our own
Fred Dahlinger -- the noted circus historian from Baraboo, Wisconsin,
and _the_ fair- and band-organ historian and expert for European and
American organs that were used on traveling shows -- but also shows
film footage of many of the famous steam calliopes that were used
mainly in the street parades and occasionally on the circus lot.
I especially enjoyed seeing many of the old wagons being used in very
rare film footage. I have been a circus model builder as long as I've
been a restorer of mechanical musical instruments and this is where my
love of this music and my business all began -- at the Circus!
All the best,
