Replacement Coin Piano Motor Overheats
By Marissa Beauchamp

[ Ref. 190413 MMD, Seeburg Coin Piano Plays Too Loud & Too Fast ]

Thanks for all the help with adjusting tempo and volume. We were
able to adjust the music tempo with no issue. The volume is still
loud, but I think if we adjust the valve any further some notes
will drop out.

Now I'm looking for recommendations as to what to do with our motor
which is overheating after a song or two and we have to nudge the
wheel a little to get it to turn initially. Maybe the wheel just
needs to be lubricated?

Can someone point me to a good replacement option? Pictures posted
at the links below.

[ Marissa, the motor seen in your photo, Dayton 3M008, is sold new
[ with extra-long shafts for a dual squirrel cage blower. See
 [ https://www.grainger.com/product/DAYTON-1-4-HP-3M008 The blower
[ air cools the motor. Try fitting a small external fan to blow air
[ into your motor, to cool the windings. If you must nudge the
[ motor to start it turning then it's likely the big capacitor has
 [ failed. -- Robbie
