Hello, I have a 1927 Gulbransen Registering Piano with a Recordo
expression system, fully electric without the foot pump, and three
foot-pedals (soft, loud and sustain).
The player was restored before I purchased it, replacing all the
valves, bellows, tubing and refurbishing the cabinet, but they lost
the mandolin rail. Most of the tubing for the Recordo system and
operating systems were in the wrong places. It took a while to sort
out but is now playing beautifully, until the motor burnt out.
This seems to be an odd player; I haven't seen a picture of one the
same. It seems to be very similar to the Triano but without the foot
pump. I'm looking for some parts if anyone could help:
1. Electric motor armature, or complete motor.
2. Resistor [for reducing] 230 volts to 110 volts, screwed into
a light bulb type fitting in back of piano.
3. Mandolin rail with the pneumatic action that fits onto the back
of the spool box, or parts.
I have pictures if this helps.
Many thanks,
Ian Ferguson

[ I assume the motor armature (rotor) is wound, with a commutator,
[ which would explain the resistor to reduce the mains voltage. An
[ old-time industrial motor repair firm should be able to restore the
[ antique motor for you and provide a suitable high-power resistor
[ (500 watts, ceramic) or a transformer for 230 VAC mains. -- Robbie
