Hi all, I had a call from a person in Carmel who purchased a rebuilt
grand player piano with the Stoddard style Ampico system: two sliders
for Tempo and Repeat, and all other controls are sliders, no turning
levers.
Since delivery, it plays weakly and slowly, although I'm told it rewinds
correctly. The technician who sold it to her is not that familiar with
traditional players but does work on modern electronic player pianos.
I would love to help this person but it's at least a 5-hour trip one
way for me. I'm hoping within our MMDers is someone closer who could
help out. I suspect something has come undone on a hose somewhere
during the move.
You can email me or post to the group. Thanks!

[ I wonder if any components, such as hoses, have been rebuilt or
[ replaced recently. The new owner can be proud of a 100-year-old
[ reproducing piano that still plays, albeit weakly, but it's probably
[ a long way from playing properly. I hope the lady isn't too
[ disappointed. -- Robbie
