I just got the phenomenal news today from my boss, Debbie Karu,
when working at Casino Pier in Seaside Heights, New Jersey, that the
Dr. Floyd Moreland carousel with its Wurlitzer 146A band organ and mix
of Dentzel, Looff, and Carmel animals (after years of raising funds),
will finally be receiving the thorough restoration it has deserved
over the past set of years.
The carousel will be dismantled in its current location of the Casino
Arcade before the summer of 2019 and put in storage to be shipped to
the shop of Todd Goings in Marion, Ohio. While the carousel still can
be seen by the public in its current location, it won't be operating
for the next few months.
In order to commence construction of the carousel's new building
(which will be on Carteret Street in Seaside Heights), the Seaside
Heights Borough Council is seeking a $1.5 million Green Acres grant
from the New Jersey State Department Of Environmental Protection,
which has scheduled a hearing on the grant application for March 20.
There is the possibility that if more private funds are raised towards
the carousel's restoration, the borough hopes to have it restored and
operational possibly by 2020. The band organ has already been removed
from the center of the carousel and is being taken to Ohio for
restoration. More information about the carousel's hopeful future

P.S.: It's finally "warming up" here in New Jersey.
