Both Mark Singleton and myself have been busy working on a project to
make mechanical music more accessible and attract people who may not
ordinarily come into contact with, or are aware of, our interest group.
To date we have targeted specific sectors of potential interest to
ourselves. By utilising tags to piggyback web bots, our website pops up
as a suggested visit, ready translated in the viewers' native tongue.
As a result, we are now getting around 5,000 hits per month and our
'Blogs' are generating positive comments, coupled with a surprising
number of subscribers to our newsletter, which we hope may increase
when we roll out our interactive collections page in the near future.
This will be modelled as a fast track learning resource for potential
collectors.
Much has been said about the diminishing interest in our hobby and at
the moment we have basic links to the established societies that we
are members of but if any like-minded association would like to expand
their presence with a dedicated editorial about their society, please
get in touch and we would be happy to publish it. Hopefully we may be
able to pull a few new faces into the global membership fraternity.
We are open to contributions (in English please) from any mechanical
music related societies in the United States of America, United Kingdom,
Europe, New Zealand, Australia, Russia, Japan, China, etc. -- our
website should translate it!
