The AMICA Bulletin is working on a major reference article set about
"Contemporary Music Arranging and Production". AMICA has seen, through
requests and feedback, that many potential and current mechanical
music enthusiasts want more current, recent, or last-generation music
available on mechanical music media besides the traditional older music
on rolls, books, and discs.
There is much more music that meets these criteria available than people
think. Further, there are many arrangers, producers, and crafts people
producing more of this for a hungry market, and to help move mechanical
music to a younger generation. AMICA wants to encourage and help
surface and promote these efforts.
In this reference series of articles, AMICA wants to not only provide
a list, directory, and source of this music, but also provide a
platform for those involved in its production to explain how they
do it. Enthusiasts want to know how music is arranged? How are the
tunes chosen? What are the formats? How are the media perforated,
manufactured, or produced? How is it available?
Feel free to respond and offer your opinions in MMD, but I am especially
interested in your contribution to this series for The AMICA Bulletin if
you are an arranger, producer of media (perforator, book puncher, disc
manufacturer), marketer, etc. I'm glad to be more specific in what you
can do to help make a good contribution. It's easy! We also expect to
include a "Directory of Contemporary Music" as part of the series, so
submit your listing if you are a provider.
Just because I may know many of you involved in this effort, don't
assume I will contact you. I look forward to hearing from you and your
contribution!
