Hi Everyone, Thanks to all who wrote back about my recent inquiry
pertaining to my roller organ. After checking all the responses it
appears the instrument is as it was originally and I am content to
keep it as such. It plays beautifully thanks to a restore from Harold
Draper at Roller Organ Restorations. Thank you, Harold!
I am on to another project. I have a 4-octave Deagan Electric Una-Fon
(or Una-phone, depending on where you look). For the most part it
plays well. I've been working on the keyboard contacts and have gotten
all to work, even the ones that play two octaves when pushed all the
way down.
I'm having a problem with two of the bells themselves. One I have
been able to get working to a degree by cleaning the reiterating
contact (I think that is what they are called). The other does
nothing. I fear it may have a bad coil.
My question is: Does anyone know of any service literature or the
procedure for adjusting the contacts? That was how I got the one to
work but it is still not right. If I need to replace the solenoid
on the other note, are there any sources for parts or repairs?
Any information as to the workings of the solenoids and their contacts
would be helpful. A diagram for one would be terrific. I'm a little
hesitant to disassemble one as there are insulators and I'm sure
internal components that I can't see.
Thanks in advance for anyone's and everyone's help. I'm attaching
a couple pictures of the Una-Fon and its strikers.
Best to all,
Kevin Mayes
