In case anyone is wondering what will be the exact number of Wurlitzer
165 band organ rolls I plan to commission with the generous help of
Glenn Thomas and Andy Park, the answer is six (which happens to be my
personal favorite number).
Why six? Because after thinking over the costly and time consuming
process of commissioning a roll I just thought that six rolls seemed
like a reasonable amount since Jimmy Drew stopped at six, I think.
So far the last roll he commissioned is roll no. 6875, the second and
final of the two 12-tune Stephen Foster rolls with the other being
roll no. 6874.
Anyway, my third roll is a good set of eclectic well-known tunes
which begins with the two Shirley Temple successes, "On The Good Ship
Lollipop" and "Animal Crackers In My Soup".
My fourth roll will be a tribute to the folk duo of Paul Simon and
Art Garfunkel and will feature many of their famous hits, such as
"The Sound Of Silence", "The Boxer" and "Mrs. Robinson".
Rolls five and six are still undecided and need to be thought over
carefully by me.
