For sale, free: I have a Wm. Knabe & Co. Style H-GE (5'2") Ampico grand
in a "checked black" finish that I would call mahogany, rather than
walnut. It is original with the bench, and "if" I remember correctly,
it is dated to be September or October, 1925. I cannot get at the
serial number. It is completely original. I have played it for years,
thinking I was going to have it rebuilt, but the budget never allowed
for it.
The piano needs to be rebuilt as the pin block is _dead_ in the bass.
The hammers and strings are also lacking in the life department. The
Ampico is there and intact, but has never played in the almost 30 years
that I have owned it.
I am offering it to the first person that can come to Phoenix, AZ, and
load it up out of the ground level warehouse that I have stored it in
for the last 8 years. Pick it up and it is yours! I have to be out of
there by the close of 2018, and my only option will be to have it hauled
to the city dump. You can contact me through my email if you are
interested or have further questions. Thanks!
