Dear all, For those with an interest in cylinder boxes, five years
ago a very rare and early overture box, circa 1832-33, turned up made
by Henri Reymond. We have written a blog about how the whole thing
unfolded, including a link to it playing. It can be read on the blog
section here: http://www.silvertonemusicboxes.co.uk/
We are also trying an experiment, with the aim raising the profile
of mechanical music and to make the subject more accessible to people
who would not ordinarily encounter the instruments we love. To date
the results have been encouraging and we have recommended that a few
people to join one or more of the societies via our links.
To this aim, we would welcome input from others. If you are a
collector, a dealer, or a restorer we would welcome your contributions
to our blog: http://www.silvertonemusicboxes.co.uk/blog/
So, if you fancy submitting your own blog, humorous anecdotal stories
of how something came to be are as welcome as an in-depth study of
a technically demanding restoration job -- we could publish it on the
Silvertone website.
