Hello everyone, I've been tasked with finding a restorable player piano
to be put into working condition by the members of a "maker space" in
Flint, Michigan, known as "Factory Two", https://factorytwo.org/
("Factory One", adjacent to it, is a historical property in downtown
Flint where General Motors began!)
A maker space is an organization where persons who want to pursue
developing an idea can use the array of tools available to construct
it. There is everything from woodworking tools to 3-D printers. The
director of this activity plans to restore the piano for use at a local
historical park, Crossroads Village.
I have agreed to guide the participants in the piano restoration and
probably will donate some of my remaining restoration materials. I see
this as a wonderful opportunity to make a lot more people aware of the
fun of mechanical music, both in the restoration process and the
playing of it in a public venue.
Since rank amateurs will be working on it, I'd prefer that the player
piano be one that is relatively easy to restore, such as an Aeolian or
a Cable. (No "teakettle" Cecilians; I've already been offered one of
those!)
