There is something wrong about the description of the A. B. Chase
player piano, as the description says it has a Krell player mechanism
in the bottom of the piano. The dead giveaway that it is not a Krell
is the fold-up spoolbox assembly.
The fold-up spoolbox is a feature only found on the A. B. Chase
mechanism, which, as the Reblitz book says, "comes out of the piano
in one bulky piece, and the spoolbox slides back under the keyboard
when not in use; tubing, chains, levers and all!"
I have run across several Krell players and they never had a spoolbox
design like that. I seriously doubt the mechanism is a Krell.
