Mikey Mills has acquired a number of old Wurlitzer 150 rolls which he
plans to have recut. This roll, #13025 from 1916, is one of the best
in the lot and is certainly deserving of being recut. Like many old
rolls that were good enough to have been played often over the years,
this roll is missing tune 1 and has lost its label. But six of the
tunes have been identified.
One of the three still-unidentified tunes is also an unidentified tune
on Wurlitzer 165 roll #6521, and nobody has yet been able to name it
in the fifty years they have heard it on my 165 website. But maybe
now, who knows?
Mikey has given me permission to post the contents of roll 13025 on my
150 roll website, which also has recordings of the three unidentified
tunes: http://wurlitzer-rolls.com/150catalog/150index.html#Pt.%202
We invite you to listen to the recordings and see whether you recognize
them. Also, if you are in the market for a really, really good and
well-arranged style 150 roll from Wurlitzer's early days, keep an eye
out for when Mikey announces the availability of his #13025 recuts.
