The first ever band organ roll I ever commissioned (Style 165 roll
no. 6880) is now available for free listening on YouTube. It is being
played by the Verbeeck replica of a Wurlitzer 165 at Seabreeze Park,
Rochester, New York, after being tuned and voiced to sound a lot more
like a genuine Wurlitzer 165 band organ.
The roll has been lovingly recorded by my friend and local high school
algebra teacher, Kevin Dorey, a regular visitor to the park and organ.
The roll features a well chosen variety of tunes which were popular
from the early to mid ages of rock 'n roll (the mid 1950s to the early
1960s) which have been arranged in Wurlitzer style by the amazing
virtuoso himself, Andy Park.
Very soon this year I will be working on my second commissioned roll,
with the help of Andy Park and Glenn Thomas, which will feature a set
of 10 popular eclectic evergreen hits including, "Strike Up The Band",
"Does The Spearmint Lose Its Flavor", and "New York, New York".
