I went and looked at the art case Weber Duo-Art mentioned a few days
ago in 180309 MMDigest. It turns out that it came from the Detroit
mansion of S. S. Kresge (of Kresge department stores, later Kmart),
and is actually unrestored (not badly semi-restored, as I originally
thought, which is a plus to collectors).
It has its original lacquer finish, which should touch up nicely
without a full refinishing job, and is playing weakly on its original
pneumatic system (Aeolian used high-quality materials). Comes with
its original matching bench. 600 rolls are also available, but most
are not Duo-Arts (to be sold separately).
The seller is asking $1,000 or best offer; all offers will be
considered. Located in Gainesville, Georgia [north-east of Atlanta
about 55 miles]; it must be removed from the house it's in by April 28,
at the latest.
