First, set the pump spill with the roll speed at zero Tempo. Set the
Crescendo screw so that it shows equal threads on either side of the
threaded casting, taking into account the lock nut doesn't figure into
the visible threads.
The expression diving board should be ever so slightly closer on the
wire end to the stationary wood to which the three square pneumatics
are glued. The port inside should be in a sealed position. If this
is all "equal" by trying to maintain 90 degrees from the threaded
rods, the piano actually ought to be within a few inches either way
from minimum "zero". Play the test roll and adjust the screw on the
Crescendo for the softest setting without missing any notes.
None of what I have written would be valid if the open position of any
pneumatics involve has been altered by not observing how much cloth is
used on any of the pneumatics.
