I am currently rebuilding a Tangley CA-43 calliope which appears to
have undergone a rebuild some time back. The restorer used RTV
Silicone II for seating and sealing of all of the unit valves.
There was also a bit of duct tape on the stack, so let's not call it
a restoration.
I am guessing that there should be several gaskets to accomplish the
task of rebuilding the unit valves: one between the metal unit valve
and pneumatic, and a second one between the whole pneumatic assembly
and the stack. There is probably supposed to be a retaining ring on
the bottom side against the pouch, as is done in a Wurlitzer unit
valve. Does anyone out there make or have a set of gaskets?
I am also not certain how the top plate of the valve was supposed to
have been retained. It does not thread in and is not a press fit.
Currently it is being held in place by RTV. Any and all help is
appreciated.
