Hi Everyone! A few years ago I was approached by KCHK radio in
Minneapolis, Minnesota, about doing a spot featuring mechanical music.
Well, that's quite a drive from New York, so I suggested they contact
my friend, Ralph Schultz, who lived close by and I believed would be
happy to help them.
It worked out great -- Ralph has been featured on the show for the past
few years and is doing another 'spot' for Mechanical Music in a few
days! He has brought music boxes (including a heavy 20" Regina), crank
organs, organettes and band organs. It's quite a chore to transport
the big heavy machines in the frigid weather, so he's brought CDs of
some of the pieces this time.
Ralph sent me this information, hoping some of you would enjoy hearing
it 'live', or would want to go to the radio station website and listen
to past performances. Here's what sent me:
"DATE: January 5th, 2018
"I will for the third year in a row be on KCHK radio, local radio
station from 7:00 AM Central Standard Time until approx. 9:30 AM with
the crank organ and I will have a CD of my Violano Virtuoso with
Christmas music on it. I have only one tune on the crank organ so
it's limited in that area but I also have other music on the CD as
well as a CD of my Stinson band organ and I will be playing various
tunes on the crank organ as well. I am thinking this is a way for
other radio stations to promote mechanical music.
For first hand information on your computer, the website is

KCHK radio at http://www.kchkradio.net/ will put you on the radio
site and then you can click on the upper right corner of the FM 99.5
radio and listen live."
This is just one way we can 'get the word out' about our passion!
Wishing all MMD-ers a safe and healthy New Year,
