Jim Quashnock requested labels for some Violano rolls recently.
For those of you who are not aware of it, I have had a long-running
project to collect as much information as possible about the contents
of Violano rolls. As of this date, I have at least tune titles and
tune numbers for all but 190 of the 3121 rolls made for the Violano.
The information is contained in a Microsoft Access database that is
available at http://www.violanomusic.com/
One of the functions I have built into the program is the ability
to print formatted roll labels. Information on the label will include
roll number and title as well as tune number, tune title, composer,
publisher, copyright date and any other information known about each
roll.
I have found the best way to affix a label to a roll is to print out
the information on white paper and then attach using rubber cement.
This appears to work better than printing on label stock and has
worked well on the dozens of Violano rolls I have replaced labels on.
