Not long ago a Hammond organ was advertised in MMD. Some of our AMICA
Lady Liberty Chapter members went to check on it and discovered a hoard
of instruments! So, my wife and I decided to make the trip and take
pictures. Unfortunately, most of the pictures didn't turn out due to
the low lighting and massive expanse of the place. But here is a
partial list of items:
- approximately 5,000 music rolls, mostly 88-note piano rolls;
- several player pianos and one 1850s square piano;
- at least 5 Pianolodeon toy player pianos;
- 1 Model W Orchestrelle;
- 5 pipe organs;
- 13 harps;
- approximately 300 reed organs, some of which are housed in
shipping containers;
- upholstered stools;
- phono records, 78, 45 and 33 rpm, by the dozens;
- music roll cabinets;
- Chinese musical bells, swords, and much, much more.
The items are housed in a church, in a former gymnasium with a
30-foot ceiling and Home Depot style shelving, in a former school and
in a house several miles away. Everything is for sale. Call and make
an appointment with Donna Fries, tel.: 1-610-406-1348. Bring a truck,
trailer or other means of hauling things away.
