Hi All, Craig Brougher has written two more excellent articles about
the Ampico 'B' reproducing player system. The primary article is
named, "The Ampico Model B- an Important New Development in 1929".
The second companion article is titled, "Improving the Ampico Model B
Tracking System".
As you may know, very little has been written about how the Ampico 'B'
compares to the Ampico 'A', or why the model 'B' can play an 'A' roll
as well or better than the original model 'A' can play it. Also, few
people know that a major part of the marketing criteria for the model
'B' was that it had to play the 'A' rolls at least as well as the model
'A' played them, or it never would have gone to market.
Many 'Ampico myths' are debunked in these articles, and I really
believe you'll be glad you read them. They contain numerous rebuilding
notes, and together with the first article on 'Why the Ampico Model B
May Not Play 'A' rolls Well', you will be able to pinpoint every
'expression' problem you're presently encountering in your partially
restored or poorly operating Model 'B' system. Here are the links to
all three of the articles.
