For the first time ever I will disagree with Roger Wiegand, and I do
so just as a point of clarification. Many, many of us have limited
bandwidth. Even though we live inside a sizeable city, there is no
cable service; U-verse, WiMax, fiber, etc. aren't available. Our
only options for the 100 houses or so within a mile of here are
satellite Internet and cellular hotspots.
The speed is just barely enough to view a YouTube video. The going
price is about $10 per gigabyte. You would be surprised how fast a
gigabyte gets used up on sites that push advertising and flash content.
The cable and fiber companies won't even talk to us.
The bottom line here is that I like MMD because the text format does
not use a lot of data and is not slow. There would be ads in my email
if I didn't have a very strong ad blocker.
