Skip, Boy, do you have my sympathies! I am still rebuilding a
Wurlitzer stack that was "fixed" some years ago by putting it together
with that stuff -- Aaugh! It takes (at least for me) automotive
lacquer thinner (not hardware store stuff!) to get it out of the pores
of the wood enough to use hide glue again. This project has gone on
far too long, and now it's just a volunteer rescue effort.
I hope to be able to test the stack in the next month, with fingers
crossed. This "rebuilder" also used some sort of red leather (fake
leather?) for the valves which has shrunk, and then zephyr skin for
the pouches, but not good quality stuff -- it's hardened and cracked
almost like Perflex!
I think the guy/gal thought they were doing a good job, but it wasn't.
I've had to remake the stack boards, which has taken way too much time!
And, until I put it all together, I won't know if it will be an easy
pumper or not. Oh, bother!
Let us know how you do!
