Seek Insurance Appraisal For Reproducing Pianos
By Adam Aceto
I am in the midst of changing around some of my homeowners insurance
coverage and I need an updated appraisal for my reproducing pianos.
My local piano technician demurred as he felt his knowledge of
reproducing pianos wasn't strong enough to "stand up in court."
The insurance company has asked for a simple statement from a
technician; he does not have to be a certified appraiser. The
statement needed is for replacement value and not the actual value
of my instruments. I feel I know my instruments and the market better
than most techs but, unfortunately, that is of no help to me in this
case!
Is there someone willing to write me a letter on professional
letterhead if I can provide you all the details? I'm happy to pay for
the service and I even found a site online that does piano appraisals;
however, nowhere does it cite their knowledge or experience with
reproducing pianos or the market for buying and selling reproducing
pianos.
Thanks for your help!
