Final Open Day at Cotton Mechanical Music Museum
The Final Annual Enthusiasts' Day at Cotton Mechanical Music Museum,
Blacksmiths Road, Cotton, near Stowmarket, Suffolk, England, IP14 4QN,
will take place from 10 a.m. on Sunday, October 1st, 2016 (always the
first Sunday in October).
This year is not only the last day of their season before they close
for the winter, but also the last day before the museum starts to
re-locate to new premises near to Diss, Norfolk, with the plan to
re-open on Saturday 19th May as part of the Diss Organ Festival.
Please consider this as your last chance to visit the museum in it's
location of the past 30 plus years, do please come and support the
museum on this day.
All larger instruments in the museum -- the fair organs and the cinema
organ -- will be played all day. I have been told by the organizer
that there will also be plenty of visiting organs this year, from small
hand-cranked to larger trailer-mounted instruments, playing both inside
and outside on the grounds.
This is a wonderful day out with steam road engines as well. There
are usually a few different and new exhibits each year and there is also
a large raffle to raise money for museum funds.
I will be having a sales stall at the event and hope to meet many
friends there, old and new. If you need anything in particular, please
email me before 3 p.m. on Saturday, 30th September, so I can be sure to
pack it for you. I will be offering books and CDs at a discount to
clear my stock.
The museum is situated just off the B1113, six miles north of Stowmarket,
Suffolk. See http://mechanicalmusicmuseum.co.uk/
Don't forget the Musical Box Society London Group meeting in the Croydon
area the previous weekend on Saturday, 23rd September; contact me
directly or see http://www.mbsgb.org/
