[ We're going to put most of the articles we receivd once mail was
[ workiing again onto the website with the dates they should have been
[ published. Since the mail was down most of the time during the gap,
[ there are days with no articles. This is a first, I think,
[ in 20 years. --Jody
Jody called me this evening to let me know that almost everything on
the MMDigest server is working correctly now. The old server developed
an intermittent hardware problem after a scheduled power outage at the
ISP. Jody has migrated all the software to brand new hardware with
faster disk drives (two 500 gigabyte solid state drives), an Intel i7
processor, and a 1 gigabit-per-second Internet connection.
This is huge upgrade -- about a 10x improvement in performance. This
upgrade had been anticipated, but the hardware failure made it urgent
to complete immediately.
My "editor-1701" e-mail is arriving correctly at MMD but I can't read
it yet until an issue with the pop3 service (mail retrieval) is fixed,
but I can read the mail sent to "rolls-1701". I look forward to your
