David Kelzenberg asked about CD's of new Wurlitzer 165 band
organ rolls (MMD 15 Aug, 2017). As the producer of these rolls
referenced by Mr. Kelzenberg, I can agree and sympathize that this
wonderful music, played on a quality instrument, could be enjoyed
by many, via CD's or the equivalent. I work with two terrific
arrangers, Andy Park and Mikey Mills who are heavily influenced by
Wurlitzer's original period style. Before them, Rich Olsen arranged
many tunes and rolls before his untimely, sudden passing. All that
adds up to over 500 tunes, arranged for the large Wurlitzer 165 scale
over the past decade!
Most, but not all, of those tunes have been released on 10-tune
style 165 rolls. I have also produced one recent CD featuring
the arrangements of Andy Park and Mikey Mills. Another CD is in
production. Other than that, as Mr. Kelzenberg states, all off this
great music is available only to the few with an organ capable of
playing that scale on a roll or MIDI system.
As to recording these arrangements on a good instrument, I use
original, restored Wurlitzer 165 band organ, serial number #3629,
originally operated for most of its life at Lincoln Park in Los
Angeles, California. One can judge the quality of this organ by
listening to recordings on this site where these rolls are available:

The largest Internet source of mechanical organ CDs is in Europe,
here: https://www.draaiorgelshop.nl/nl/ I wholesale my CDs to this
site, but I am also willing to sell them direct to anyone interested.
I am willing to produce more CDs if there is sufficient interest.
Any CD release requires at least 15 copies sold just to break even.
Another possibility I have done for some is to offer SD cards for sale
with these wonderful recordings. These can be played on any device
with an SD card reader or "burned" on to a CD, or even stored in memory
on any device for easy streaming.
My producing music rolls (also Wurlitzer APP rolls) and recordings of
this music is done strictly as a way to encourage wider enjoyment of
this music and as a platform to encourage these wonderful music
arrangers. Any income after expenses goes back to the arrangers.
The reality is that there is a limited market for recordings in any
form of this wonderful music, but I have many options for those
seriously interested. A wonderful world of hundreds of recordings by
great arrangers awaits. Queries invited plus I'm glad to add you to
my email mailing list for future releases if you send me your email.
